Nebraska’s state parks have a wide variety of volunteer options available at properties across the state.
Join the Volunteer-In-Parks program and become a VIP! Nebraska’s state parks have a wide variety of volunteer options available at properties across the state. Some of the different ways you can volunteer in the state park system include:
- Clean up park grounds, picnic areas, campgrounds, and facilities.
- Plant trees, remove invasive species, and do prairie and habitat restoration.
- Build and maintain new and existing trails.
- Enhance pollinator gardens.
- Assist staff in building picnic shelters, kiosks, and other property facilities.
- Carpentry, or other construction projects.
- Living History Re-enactor.
- Special Event assistance.
Other ways to give back to parks
Be a campground host
Enjoy the great outdoors while also helping others enjoy their own camping experiences. The host program generally operates from April to September and hosts must be able to devote a minimum to two weeks to a selected campground.
On Track Program
Nebraska Game and Parks is seeking funding assistance to purchase track chairs, all-terrain electric-powered chairs, that allow visitors to explore state parks in new ways by accessing areas that may not be suitable for regular wheelchairs.
