Danish Alps State Recreation Area comprises a 219-acre lake surrounded by 520 acres of parkland. The area is named for the early Danish settlers in the area. Kramper Reservoir, named for Vince Kramper, was planned with shoreline and both fishing in mind. The area also offers camping, day use facilities and hiking, biking and equestrian trails.

Kramper Reservoir was planned with shoreline and boat fishing in mind. The breakwater on the west shore includes a handicap-accessible fishing pier.
A wide spectrum of aquatic habitat features was incorporated to encourage fish to reproduce and grow rapidly. These include three water quality basins, a wetlands complex, a number of rock breakwaters, unwater shoals, tree and brush piles and diverse water depths. Game and Parks has stocked the lake with largemouth bass, bluegill, black crappie, channel catfish and walleye.
Kramper Reservoir is a no-wake lake. There is a boat launch facility on the west side of the area with two 40-foot docks.
Danish Alps has three day-use areas with plentiful picnic tables, grills and shelters. Day-use area 2 also has a playground.
Hunting is allowed on the area south of 203rd Street from the first Tuesday following Labor Day through the end of the spring turkey season. Special restrictions apply; please refer to the Hunting Guide for more details.
Kramper Reservoir is encircled by two trails – one for hiking and biking and another for horseback riding.
Danish Alps offers Electric Plus, Basic and Equestrian Electric Plus campsites. There are 34 gravel pads with electrical hookups and two ADA-cement pads with electrical hookups, as well as seven gravel pull-through pads with electrical hookups and one ADA cement pull-through pad with electrical hookups. Electrical campsites are Electric Plus campsites. There are also 22 Basic camping sites. Campers have access to water, modern restrooms and showers.
Camping reservations are available for half of the electrical campsites. All other camping is all first-come, first-served; campers must register their nightly camping fees in a raised, locked box called an Iron Ranger. Self-service envelopes are provided at each station and accept cash or checks only.
An equestrian campground offers 14 horse corrals, hitching posts and water. A scenic horse trail encircles most of the lake.
Park Pricing
A park entry permit is required to visit state parks and may be purchased at the park, statewide Game and Parks offices and permit vendors, or in advance of your arrival online. View those fees, as well as attraction and amenity pricing.
Reservations
Reservations are accepted for cabins, lodge rooms, and group lodges up to one year in advance of the arrival date. Reservations for camping are accepted up to 180 days in advance of arrival date. The Reservation Call Center hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (CT) and closed on holidays.
