Accessible camping

Nebraska Game and Parks is working to improve campground accessibility at your state parks so people of all abilities have the same opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Our goal is to provide up-to-date, detailed information about accessible campsites so visitors can make camping decisions with confidence.

Ongoing efforts to improve accessible campsites and features are in progress; currently, many of our parks offer campsites with some accessible features. We’ll regularly update this page with detailed information about individual campsites at state park locations, so be sure to check back for the latest information.

ADA camping signage

Signage

Accessible campsites, including RV and tent sites, will be designated with this sign at state parks and state recreation areas. Visit Nebraska’s Reserve America portal to find and reserve specific sites before you go.

Reasonable accommodations

In compliance with the intent and spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act, we are committed to provide equal access for all Nebraska state park visitors.

Campsites designated as accessible are intended for persons with disabilities. Those who do not have a valid handicap license plate or placard may request a reasonable accommodation for a one-time exemption; verbal confirmation of a qualifying disability will be accepted. Seek permission from the park superintendent, park staff or the reservations call center at 1-844-637-2757.

A designated campsite may only be occupied by guests without disabilities when it is the last site within a park or campground. A park employee or camp host, if they are available, must be notified prior to campers occupying the site. Campers who are staying more than one night are required to move to a non-accessible campsite should one become available during their stay.
