10/17/2024 – All camping at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area is closed until further notice while improvements take place at two campgrounds. Work is expected to begin as early as this week on renovations that should continue until late next spring. Signage will be posted in the park for safety.

One of eastern Nebraska’s most popular recreation areas, Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area has about 40 land acres and nearly 300 water acres in 20 sandpit lakes. Located three miles west of Fremont, this is a favorite area with campers, picnickers and water enthusiasts who come for great boating, fishing and water skiing.

Attractions

Powerboating is allowed on lakes 10 and 15. All other lakes are open to non-power craft and electric trolling motors. For safety and to ease congestion, towing more than two individual skiers behind any boat is prohibited at Victory Lake.

Largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie and channel catfish are available in the various lakes. Additionally, muskies are stocked in Lake 20 and rainbow trout are seasonally stocked in Lake 2. The area boasts excellent access for shore anglers, five floating and four ADA-accessible fishing piers, five fishing decks, two ADA-accessible fishing decks and eight fishing nodes.

Fremont SRA offers several day use picnic areas throughout the area.

Swimming is permitted in buoyed areas only. There are no lifeguards on duty.

The Group Lodge at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area is the perfect location to host a family reunion, wedding, meeting or other group event. The Group Lodge offers 1,500 square feet of open indoor space, as well as an 1,800-square-foot deck overlooking Lake 16. Wireless internet and audio-visual equipment are provided. Other amenities include a kitchenette with refrigerator, sink and microwave; wireless internet; audio-visual equipment; and restrooms. A concession stand on Victory Lake offers soda, snacks, bait and other supplies. Additional services are available in nearby Fremont.

Camping

Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area (SRA) offers Electric Plus, Electric, Basic and Primitive campsites in four campgrounds. Fremont SRA campgrounds are situated among mature shade trees and provide campers with showers, modern restrooms, drinking water and two dump and fill stations are available.

Camping reservations are available up to 180 days in advance of arrival for half of the electrical campsites. All other camping is first-come, first-served. All campers should check in at the park office upon arrival. For those camping without reservations, please go to park office upon arrival to check availability and register to camp.

Park Pricing

A park entry permit is required to visit state parks and may be purchased at the park, statewide Game and Parks offices and permit vendors, or in advance of your arrival online. View those fees, as well as attraction and amenity pricing.

Reservations

Reservations are accepted for cabins, lodge rooms, and group lodges up to one year in advance of the arrival date. Reservations for camping are accepted up to 180 days in advance of arrival date. The Reservation Call Center hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. (CT) and closed on holidays.
