The Outdoor Discovery Program provides interactive programs so all youth, novice or experienced, have the opportunity to explore new outdoor activities and recreational possibilities and learn new outdoor skills. The program is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and ethical understanding of wildlife and the outdoors. In addition, it encourages health and wellness by promoting active outdoor lifestyles. It also engages students in fun, interactive activities in the areas of wildlife and habitat management, natural resource use, Nebraska history, shooting sports, hunting skills, aquatic knowledge and fishing skills, and camping and recreation. Activities are designed to correlate with Nebraska state educational standards in the areas of science, math, history, reading and writing.
