Park amenities largely open statewide ahead of peak season

Nebraska Game and Parks state parks and amenities are largely open across the state heading into peak park season.

Water service has been restored to nearly every campground, restroom and fish cleaning station. However, recent freeze warnings and spring startup maintenance have temporarily delayed access to some amenities at a handful of parks, in some areas of the state.

Staff expect remaining amenities to be operational by May 16, which is Free Park and Fishing Day in Nebraska.

Each spring, Nebraska state parks undergo seasonal startup procedures that occasionally result in temporary water, power or facility delays as systems come back online following winter weather. Parks staff continue working statewide to minimize disruptions and complete repairs or inspections as soon as possible.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as our team works through seasonal startup and weather-related delays,” said Jeff Fields, Parks Division administrator. “We know Nebraskans are eager to enjoy their state parks, and our teams are working hard to make sure amenities are open, safe and ready for the busy season.”

Some state parks remain under campfire restrictions due to ongoing drought conditions and recent wildfires.
