Nebraska State Fish Art Contest

This annual contest is hosted each spring with Wildlife Forever The Art of Conservation.

Young artists in grades K-12 are eligible to compete in this free art competition. Winners will be selected by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, state winners will advance to the National Competition to be judged for top honors such as the Best of Show. The Art of Conservation® sparks creativity and inspires wonder about the outdoors, developing the next generation of anglers and conservationists. State-Fish Art also serves as a one-of-a-kind Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3) program to grow youth participation in fishing.

Contest deadline

The 2024-25 contest deadline is Feb. 28, 2025.

About the contest

First- through third-place winners are selected in each of four categories:

  • Kindergarten to third grade (ages 5-8);
  • Fourth to sixth grade (ages 9-11);
  • Seventh to ninth grade (ages 12-14); or
  • 10th to 12th grade (ages 15-18).

All first-place winners from each state’s age category advance to compete in the United States National Judging.
