Join Nebraska Game and Parks Commission outdoor educators, invasive species professionals and the Greater Omaha Scuba Club in removing trash from Prairie Queen Recreation Area while kayaking.
This event in Sarpy County, at 10 a.m. May 31, will help raise awareness about aquatic invasive species found in the lake and throughout Nebraska. These invasive species negatively impact recreation, Nebraska’s economy, and native aquatic life by outcompeting native species and disrupting the lake’s ecosystem.
Events like this encourage community involvement while promoting stewardship and prevention efforts to help protect Nebraska’s water resources.
Meet at the boat ramp near 132nd Street and Cornhusker Road. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own kayaks, but a limited number of kayaks will be available on a first-come basis. Registration is required.
Safety and basic instruction will be given at the beginning of the event. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
