Why we stock fish

Stocking fish is one of the many tools Nebraska’s fisheries managers employ to maintain and enhance out state’s fish populations and fishing opportunities. Each year millions of fish are stocked in Nebraska waters from one end of the state to the other, dozens of species are stocked in hundreds of waters. Search our database of stockings that goes back to 1927; keep in mind records prior to 1970 are likely incomplete.
