Commissioners approve duck and goose zone units for 2026-27
The modified zones and units are approved for submission to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Women in south-central Nebraska looking to learn fishing skills are invited to Introduction to Fishing events hosted by the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program.
The events, led by female instructors, will go from 6-8 p.m. The offerings are: May 27 at North Park Lake, Holdrege; June 2 at Johnson Lake, Elwood; June 9 at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area; and June 16 at Windmill SRA, Gibbon.
This evening of fun and fellowship will include selecting a beginner’s fishing equipment, baiting a hook, casting a line, and safely releasing fish. All equipment and bait will be provided.

The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program empowers women with the knowledge of outdoor skills. Outdoor experts and instructors teach women a variety of workshops and interactive courses related to hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, archery, target shooting, plant and wildlife identification, nature photography, outdoor cooking and more.
