Services limited at 4 metro state parks

Services are limited at four metro Nebraska Game and Parks locations after a blizzard knocked out power to them March 19.

Two Rivers State Recreation Area, west of Omaha, is closed until further notice. Power lines downed in the storm are lying over the main road to the park. The park grounds, campgrounds and the trout lake will remain closed until power is restored, expected March 24.

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, near Ashland, is partially without power; the Indoor Activity Center is temporarily closed March 21, with power expected to be restored March 22. Call ahead to the park at 402-944-2523 to inquire about available activities and current cabin reservations. 

Branched Oak and Pawnee state recreation areas outside of Lincoln also are without power, and water service is not available. The parks both remain open, and basic camping is still available.

Crews are working to restore power to all four Game and Parks locations. Updates on the parks’ status will be posted at OutdoorNebraska.gov.
