Schramm tree removal will include some closures

To manage the prairie and woodlands as part of a Natural Legacy demonstration site project, Schramm Park State Recreation Area will be removing invasive trees and shrubs beginning April 5.

The Larry Elston Archery Range and limited sections of the hiking trails will be closed while crews are running tree-cutting equipment. The closed areas will be marked clearly by signage.

Natural Legacy demonstration sites exemplify the habitat types prioritized in the Nebraska Natural Legacy Project, the state’s wildlife action plan. The sites demonstrate successful implementation of habitat management.
