Rainbow trout to be stocked at North Platte’s Iron Horse Park Lake

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission continues its spring trout stockings by releasing approximately 1,900 rainbow trout April 1 at Iron Horse Park Lake in North Platte. An additional 2,150 trout will be stocked at Iron Horse the week of April 21.

As spring temperatures continue to rise, anglers are encouraged to catch some of these larger trout – many near or exceeding 12 inches.
This program utilizes urban and community waters statewide to provide angling opportunities for all ages to catch and harvest rainbow trout.

Game and Parks is seeking input from trout anglers, particularly those who fish put-and-take lakes. To accomplish this, a survey is available at OutdoorNebraska.gov. Search “trout stocking reports.” Information from this survey will be used to inform future trout management and stocking decisions.

Signs with a scannable QR code are in place at Iron Horse Park Lake that will take anglers directly to the brief survey. Iron Horse is located at the Interstate 80 and U.S. Hwy 83 interchange.
