Hunters may start buying spring turkey permits Jan. 8

Hunters may begin purchasing their 2024 spring turkey season permits from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission beginning at 1 p.m. Central time Jan. 8. They also should reacquaint themselves with major changes from 2023.

Those spring season changes that began in 2023:

  • Hunters may purchase up to two spring permits instead of three.
  • A hunter may harvest no more than one turkey per calendar day during the spring season.
  • 10,000 spring permits are available for sale to nonresident hunters.
  • All turkey harvests must be reported via Telecheck.

New for 2024, the price of a nonresident turkey permit, including issuing fee, has increased from $128 to $143. The nonresident landowner permit cost rose from $65.50 to $73. All youth turkey permits remain $8.

The spring archery season opens March 25, youth shotgun on April 6, and the regular shotgun on April 13. All spring turkey seasons close May 31.

Visit Game and Parks’ permitting site GoOutdoorsNE.com or a permitting office to purchase permits starting Jan. 8.
