Homestead Knolls campground, boat ramp to reopen

Homestead Knolls campground and boat ramp at Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area will reopen for public access May 22.

The area closure was part of the Calamus road project that focused on roadway and campsite improvements and boat ramp parking area improvements. The project also addressed Americans with Disabilities Act compliance for the area.

Visitors still can expect some areas around the park to be closed to public access.

To accommodate park visitors for the Memorial Day weekend:

  • All campsites at Homestead Knolls campground will be available on a first-come, first-served basis over Memorial Day weekend.
  • Beginning May 26 at 9 a.m. Central time, Homestead Knolls reservations for the remainder of the 2025 season will open. Reservations can be made online at OutdoorNebraska.gov or by calling 402-471-1414.

For more information on Calamus SRA, including campsite availability and updates, call the park office at 308-346-5666.
