Fort Hartsuff sustains storm damage

Empires of History with Shane Johnson will continue June 21 at Fort Hartsuff State Historical Park, after the park near Burwell sustained storm damage June 19.

The historical park is temporarily closed June 20 while staff clean up the grounds. The park will reopen June 21 with limited access to buildings; the grounds will remain open.

Empires of History will be in the Officers’ Barracks. All other historic buildings will be closed for the safety of the public after hail broke windows in each. Buildings will reopen once temporary windows can be installed.

Johnson will present at 2 p.m. and will explore the Roman Legions, Spanish Conquistadors, the Empires of Britain and France, and famous figures like Napoleon Bonaparte and Queen Victoria.
