Fishing pier to be built at Willow Creek SRA

A fishing pier is being built near the boat ramp west of the campground at the Willow Creek State Recreation Area near Pierce.

For public safety, the construction area, parking lot, and boat ramp will be closed temporarily starting Nov. 18.

The 15-foot by 20-foot pier will be built off an existing jetty just west of the boat ramp. The pier is designed for anglers to fish in deeper water while providing accessibility to all anglers.

Benches will be installed, and a portion of the pier will have a roof to provide anglers a comfortable place to fish whenever the lake is not frozen.

Funding for the project, expected to be completed by the end of December, is being provided by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Aquatic Habitat Fund, Capitol Maintenance Fund and Federal Aid in Sportfish Restoration.
