Extensive road project at Calamus begins July 15

An extensive road construction project will begin July 15 at Calamus Reservoir State Recreation Area and extend into the spring. Visitor access will be limited and phased during construction.

Visitors can expect campground closures and delays as some areas will be maintained with flaggers and pilot cars, and/or traffic signals.

Valley View Flat Campground and parts of Little York Point will be closed beginning July 15.

This project will include improvements to campground roadways and campsites, boat ramp parking areas, South Lake Road, Calamus State Fish Hatchery, and Virginia Smith Dam. Compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act will be addressed in the project.

Visitors are encouraged to contact Calamus Reservoir SRA at 308-346-5666 or ngpc.calamus@nebraska.gov for project updates.
