Experience Living History weekend at Fort Kearny

Join Fort Kearny State Historical Park for a living history weekend Aug. 30-Sept. 1.

A volunteers’ camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday.

Cannons will be fired at 2 p.m. all three days, with a special night firing at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Special living history activities and demonstrations will take place at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Reenactors will be at the park to discuss life as a soldier during the fort’s early days. Visitors to the park will be able to explore exhibits and the reconstructed buildings, including the stockade, grounds, powder magazine and blacksmith/carpenter shop.

A valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for park entry. Get one at the park’s entrance or online at OutdoorNebraska.gov.
