Eugene T. Mahoney State Park hosting fall melodrama

Grab the popcorn and enjoy some light-hearted family fun at a Eugene T. Mahoney State Park melodrama this late summer and fall.

Now playing at The Denman and Mary Mallory Kountze Memorial Theatre through Oct. 22 is “Ranger’s Danger,” written by John Burkhart.

Phineas T. McFoulbreath has been cutting down all the trees in an area, selling them to paper mills, then moving to another part of the forest to start over again. Among those wanting to stop him are Ranger Sergeant Roger Steelheart, brother Ranger Rick, and sisters Ella, Della and Stella Charity, who are members of a bird-watching society.

When the ladies encounter the rangers, a romance between Ella and Roger develops. The chase ends suddenly when the villain gains the upper hand and puts them all in peril.

Ticket prices are $9 for adults, $7 for ages 12 and under, and $28 for families of two adults and two children under 12.

For more information, call the park at 402-944-2523 extension 7122. A Nebraska park entry permit is needed for each vehicle entering the park.
