Enjoy fun July events in southwestern state parks

Spend some time this summer in Nebraska’s southwestern state parks. During July, a variety of events are planned for those for all ages and interests.

Don’t forget to purchase a required vehicle park entry permit to enter the state parks. Get one at OutdoorNebraska.gov or at state park entrances.

Fishing is focus of Red Willow’s Family Fun Night

Fishing will be the focus of Red Willow Reservoir State Recreation Area’s Family Fun Night on July 9.

Fishing instructors and volunteers will be on hand to help for this free event from 6-8 p.m. All equipment will be provided, but anglers can bring their own fishing equipment.

Meet at the boat launch area near the marina.

North Platte Pow Wow at Buffalo Bill Ranch

Come to the Sixth Annual North Platte Pow Wow July 18-20 at Buffalo Bill Ranch State Historical Park.

Held in honor of Native American veterans and cultural traditions, the gathering features traditional dancing, drumming and honoring ceremonies. Attendees can look forward to vibrant displays of regalia, rhythmic drumming and engaging with artisans.

Admission is $7 for a day or $15 for a weekend pass. Those older than 65, younger than 5, veterans, and active-duty military are admitted free. No pets or alcohol are allowed.
