Cowboy Trail near Norfolk closing for repairs

Starting April 30, the Cowboy Trail will be closed temporarily for repairs a half-mile west of the South 45th Street/Railroad Road trail parking lot, about 3.75 miles west of the Ta-Ha-Zouka Park trailhead in Norfolk.

The project to repair damage from the 2019 flood will involve repairing the existing embankment armoring along the trail.

From the east, the bridge over the Elkhorn River still will be open but the trail will be closed to the public for 1 mile west of the bridge. The trail segment is anticipated to re-open mid-June.

To detour around the closure, take the trail near the parking lot at South 45th Street/Railroad Road and follow Battle Creek Road 2 miles south and west to a trail access point.
