Bridge work to cause detour at Branched Oak SRA

Some guests of Branched Oak State Recreation Area will be affected by a detour necessitated by bridge repair work this summer.

Work is expected to begin July 28 on a Lancaster County bridge on Northwest 140^th Street just south of West Branched Oak Road. The project will close Northwest 140^th Street between West Branched Oak and West Raymond Road.

Nebraska Game and Parks will post detour signs during the project. To access the SRA’s areas 3 through 8, which includes Middle Oak Creek Campground Area 4 and Liebers Point, parkgoers should detour around the reservoir and use Northwest 140^th Street from the north to reach West Branched Oak Road.

A second bridge, located on West Rock Creek Road between Northwest 140^th and Northwest 126^th streets, will be repaired after the first project is completed. That section of road will be closed during the repair.

The projects are expected to be completed by September.
