Beware of debris hazards at Lied Bridge

Water recreationists should approach the Lied Bridge in Cass County with extreme caution. Recent high water and floods on the lower Platte River have piled significant amounts of debris on the bridge’s piers.

Those with boats, canoes, kayaks, or float tubes should navigate toward the middle of the bridge, where there are adequate pass-through points. The southwestern half of the bridge is blocked with log debris.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is planning to hire a contractor to remove this debris. In the meantime, boaters must use extreme caution as they approach this bridge.
