An angler access project has temporarily closed portions of Holmes Lake Park in Lincoln.
The project, just underway, will provide fishing decks at two locations and repair a damaged shoreline in a third. Visitors will notice the reservoir water level reduced approximately 2 feet to facilitate construction.
Highlights of the project are:
An Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant fishing deck will be installed along the north shoreline.
A second fishing deck will be installed on the south lake, to the west of the existing fishing pier.
Informational signage on how to catch fish in the reservoir will be installed near both fishing decks to assist new anglers.
A portion of shoreline near the dam on the north side will have rock riprap placed on it. The current shoreline has been damaged by ice and wave action. This will both protect the shoreline and provide shore anglers with additional access.
Portions of parking lots in areas of new fishing decks and shoreline repair will be closed during construction. Trails in all three areas also will be rerouted around the construction.
Funding for this project, scheduled for completion by October 2026, is provided by a Sport Fish Restoration grant, Aquatic Habitat Funds and a private donation. This project has been made possible through a partnership with the City of Lincoln.
