Midwest Walleye Challenge

Join the challenge and help support walleye management in Nebraska, April 1 through June 29, 2025.

This fishing tournament helps support walleye management across Nebraska. Anglers who participate in the challenge provide data to Nebraska fisheries biologists who use the information to learn more about the status of walleye fisheries. In the process, Nebraska anglers can see how Husker walleye fisheries compare to others in the Midwest.

How the contest works

The 2025 contest will take place April 1 through June 29. Anglers record their walleye catches — or lack thereof — in the mobile app MyCatch to record the length of each walleye caught.

  • Anglers must pay an entry fee of $25 to participate.
  • Anglers will have to photograph fish on a measuring device using the app.
  • Once the fish is reviewed by the catch team and meets rule requirements, it will appear on a live leaderboard.
  • Weekly and grand prizes will be drawn.

Win prizes

More than $5,000 in prizes are awarded throughout the competition. The prize structure is designed to encourage reporting any walleye catch (or lack thereof) so fisheries data collected is representative. Prize drawing details can be found on the event website.

NEW FOR 2025 – When an angler registers, they will receive a unique referral URL / QR code. Anglers can share this link with friends to refer them to sign up in the event. We will be awarding referral prizes to the participants who shared the referral. For a referral to qualify, the referred angler must log a valid trip before the end of the event.
