Three programs are providing beginners the opportunity to learn new shooting skills.
Lincoln’s Turpin Outdoor Education Center, located at4703 N. 44th St., offers the Explore Archery series and the Try Archery program and the Try Rifle program.
Explore Archery — People looking for an introductory archery course are invited to participate in the Explore Archery series. Designed for archers of all abilities ages 8 and older, the series will teach range safety, fundamentals of archery shooting, and parts of a bow and arrow. Students will receive skill-building coaching and play exciting games.
The series includes six weekly one-hour classes. The cost is $60 for the series, with a 20% discount for TOEC annual pass holders.
A new Explore Archery series begins at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 15, 7 p.m. Nov. 9 and 7 p.m. Nov. 16. See the calendar entry at Calendar.OutdoorNebraska.gov to sign up.
Try Archery — Curious about archery? Try Archery is an easygoing program that covers basic range rules and procedures, along with starter techniques. Participants get to fling arrows on their first visit and leave with the ability to be safe and have fun on the range.
This program is for ages 8 and older. All equipment provided. The cost is $10, with a 20% discount for TOEC annual pass holders.

Try Rifle — The Try Rifle program is perfect for anyone looking for a safe, beginner-friendly environmentto explore shooting for the first time.
This program for ages 8 and older covers basic safety rules, handling demonstrations, and starter techniques. Participants get to shoot on the range as part of this one-hour class.
All equipment provided. The cost is $10, with a 20% discount for TOEC annual pass holders. Closed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended.
