Ice anglers urged to use caution at Wildwood WMA

Areas of open water have emerged on the frozen lake as the result of a recent aquatic habitat enhancement project at Wildwood Wildlife Management Area in Lancaster County.

Nebraska Game and Parks Commission fish and wildlife biologists recently placed rock/concrete on the ice surface in strategic locations to bolster habitat complexity in the 103-acre reservoir.

Anglers should heed the areas directly west of the boat ramp, south of the southern-most island and directly north of the wooden fishing pier.

As always, safety should be top of mind for anglers venturing onto the ice in all circumstances. Check out ice safety tips at Game and Parks offers top 8 ice safety tips
