Schramm river kayak launch to close for repairs

Starting June 17, the kayak launch on the Platte River at Schramm Park State Recreation Area south of Gretna will close temporarily for repairs.

Flooding has continued to erode the riverbank there, and temporary repairs are needed to improve site safety for kayakers accessing the river. A more permanent repair to the access and erosion control is in design and permitting phases for the access.

The closure is expected to last up to two weeks, depending on the weather.

Major flood damage occurred at that site in 2019 and minor damage this spring.

Kayakers seeking alternative options can check out the water trails page at OutdoorNebraska.gov.
