Alternatives available during construction of new Johnson Lake dump station

The dump station at Johnson Lake State Recreation Area near Lexington will close in early March so it can be replaced by a new two-lane facility. Campers will have access to other nearby dump stations operated by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission during construction.

Campers may use dump stations at Fort Kearny, Windmill and Lake Maloney state recreation areas.

During construction, campers also may use the following private dump stations, listed with their costs: Dawson County Fairgrounds, Lexington, $10; Muny Park, Cozad, $5; Blue Heron Campground, Gothenburg, $10; and 4 Seasons Campground, Elm Creek, $20.

This project is funded by Capital Maintenance Funds, which were established by the Nebraska Legislature in 2016 to help preserve Nebraska’s public outdoor recreation facilities and parklands.
