Lifetime permits and stamps

Nebraska lifetime permits and stamps are an exceptional value for outdoor enthusiasts and significantly benefit Nebraska’s wildlife and fisheries resources.

For the dedicated hunter or angler, lifetime permits and stamps offer an abundance of recreational opportunities at a great value. They are available to residents and nonresidents as well, with the exception of fur harvest permits. Once issued, these permits remain valid for the holder’s lifetime, no matter where they may reside in the future. There is no age limit for lifetime permits purchases. Parents, grandparents or others can purchase permits for children of any age, provided the child has a Social Security Number.

FAQs

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is committed to ensuring that a lifetime permit truly lasts a lifetime. Therefore, alongside the standard paper license, each permit or stamp includes an enameled brass plate personalized with the person’s name, permit number and date of birth in a carrying case.

Since either the paper license or brass plate can be used while outdoors, some individuals opt to have the brass plate displayed in their homes or offices. Additionally, annual stamps can be conveniently purchased online and printed on the paper version of your lifetime permit.

Lifetime permits and stamps are available through our website, by sending an application to the Lincoln office, or by buying them at Game and Parks Commission offices. Paper applications are also available from permit agents and Game and Parks offices throughout the state.

When purchasing online or in person a paper copy is available immediately. The brass plate processing and consequent mail delivery can take an additional 2-3 weeks. During the holiday season, order early since processing and mail delivery all take more time during this period.

Anyone may purchase a lifetime permit as a gift for another person. However, they must provide all the vital statistics requested on the application form, including the last four digits of the Social Security Number. Please indicate on the application if the permit is for a gift and where it is to be mailed if not to the person issued.

A lost lifetime permit or stamp can be replaced by contacting the Lincoln Permits office via email at NGPC.Permits@Nebraska.gov, by mail Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, PO Box 30370, Lincoln, NE 68503-0370 or by phone at 402-471-0641.

Permits may be reprinted at any Commission office or online from the customer profile for no charge. There is a replacement cost for the brass plate. Replacement plates cannot be ordered online.  Email NGPC.Permits@Nebraska.gov, or call 402-471-0641 to order.

A $300 fee for a Lifetime Aquatic Habitat Stamp is included in the cost of Lifetime Fish and Lifetime Hunt/Fish Permits. The money raised by the sale of Aquatic Habitat Stamps is leveraged with grants and federal funding to create and rehabilitate habitats for sport fish. An average of $2.9 million per year is spent in renovating lakes, reservoirs, rivers and streams throughout the state to improve recreational fishing.

Hunt and Hunt/Fish – Require a Habitat Stamp for small game hunting. Both a Habitat Stamp and Waterfowl Stamp are required to hunt duck and geese.

Fur Harvest – Requires a Habitat Stamp.

Lifetime options are available for Habitat, Waterfowl and Aquatic Stamps.

The proceeds from lifetime permits contribute to the funding of fish and wildlife conservation initiatives for many years ahead. The revenue generated is deposited into a dedicated escrow account, with only the interest being accessible for use each year.

Youth Lifetime Half-Price Permit Program

In an effort to reverse the declining sales of hunting and fishing permits, the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation established its Youth Lifetime Half Price Permit Program. This program allows youth age 15 or under to be entered to win a half-price lifetime hunting or fishing permit.
