Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, or BOW, offers hands-on workshops for adult women with an interest in learning outdoor skills such as hunting, fishing, target shooting and kayaking, among other outdoor endeavors. Workshops are tailored primarily to women who are new or who are beginners eager to improve their skills.

The cornerstone event is the BOW Weekend Workshop held the first weekend in October each year. This three-day workshop includes sessions taught by expert instructors in a supportive environment conducive to learning, making friends and having fun! Participants complete four sessions of their choosing; session workshop topics include hunting, shooting, fishing, ecological education and more. The 2021 BOW Weekend will be October 1-3, 2021 at Fort Robinson State Park. Registration is closed for the 2021 BOW weekend.
2022 BOW Weekend will be in early October and hosted at Ponca State Park.

Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman
Beyond BOW workshops provide the next step on the path in becoming a confident, independent outdoors person Beyond BOW offers single-topic programs teaching advanced skills outdoors. Workshops may take place in half day, occur over a weekend, or take place over several evenings.

Women’s only hunter education courses
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission offers women’s only hunter education courses, designed give women the chance to learn the basics of hunter safety and gain hands-on firearm and archery experience in a fun, safe environment among like-minded women. All courses will be led by women who are experienced hunters and certified volunteer hunter education instructors.
