Harre wins junior high title at Cornhusker Trap Shoot

Cohen Harre of Exeter-Milligan shot a 98, then won a shoot-off, to take the junior high championship at the 53rd Cornhusker Trap Shoot on Thursday in Doniphan, Nebraska.

Harre and Avery Davis of Norris were tied after shooting 100 16-yard targets at the Nebraska Trapshooting Association home grounds. Davis took second place with a 98 and Ian Wade of Moore Middle School third with a 97.

Sara Allard of Sidney 4-H shot a 94 to win the ladies’ competition by one over defending division champion Sara Thiellen of Ashland 4-H. Ashland 4-H repeated as the ladies’ team champion, shooting 379 of 500, SouthSide 4-H 1 shot a 465 to win the 4-H team championship, and C.J. Jones Middle School was the junior high team winner with a 460.

On Thursday, 947 junior high shooters competed, tying with 2015 for the highest single-season junior total in event history.

On Friday, approximately 1,546 senior high students were registered to shoot 75 rounds of 16-yard targets. They will shoot 75 handicap targets Saturday, and the combined scores of the two days will determine the overall champion, the Cornhusker Cup winner.
