Immerse yourself in the history of this fascinating 1820s military fort. See the militia in action, and watch as reenactors demonstrate old-time trades and crafts, like blacksmithing, weaving and butterchurning.

Fort Robinson State Park

The Cheyenne Trotters are a group of men and women who enjoy riding and sharing their love of horses with others. Bring your family out to watch the cavalry demonstrations, parades and drill team performances.

Families who are new to camping are invited to participate. You will take part in activities like lake fishing, kayaking, archery and shooting sports, guided by expert instructors.

Pollinator Workshops

Creatures like birds, bees and bats are responsible for one out of every three bites of food we eat! Sadly, they’ve been struggling in recent years. Our upcoming pollinator workshops in Bassett, Norfolk and Ponca State Park will teach you more about pollinators as well as how to build a pollinator garden.

A wildlife biologist will teach you how to survey for monarch butterflies. Surveys help scientists understand the status of endangered species. Doing just one survey can help save the monarchs! You’ll also learn more about how to protect and help monarchs.

Doves are uniquely exciting to hunt. They’re challenging to shoot, perhaps the fastest flying game species out there. Learn the secrets of dove hunting at this workshop, including strategy, equipment and recipes.

Nebraska State Fair

Aug. 26 – Sept.
Fonner Park in Grand Island

The state fair is Nebraska’s largest entertainment event filled with family-focused fun. Our home in the Nebraska Building draws crowds each year who come to see our 6,000-gallon aquarium filled with fish found in Nebraska waters, indoor archery and pellet gun ranges, kids’ Nerf gun range and more.
