Outdoor Education Center Summer Camps

The Nebraska Game and Parks Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln is now enrolling for summer day camps. These fun, activity filled camps are a great way to keep kids entertained during the summer. Day campers will have the opportunity to explore archery, campfire cooking, outdoor games and more! Learn more about each camp and register below.

Counselor Team Training Camp

Ages: 14+ | Price: $125

Camp counselors are a key part of making the Outdoor Education Center’s summer programs fun and memorable. Learn how to instruct a variety of outdoor activities: target archery, bowfishing, slingshot, tomahawk, atlatl, hiking, photography, survival, knot tying, outdoor cooking, marksmanship, and more! Most of the instructional training will be done through hands-on activities.

Nebraska Adventures Camp

Ages: 8 – 13 | Price: $88 members, $110 non-members

Designed for fledgling outdoors enthusiasts, the Nebraska Adventures Camp is a way to explore the state without the gas mileage. Campers will develop an appreciation of the natural world by exploring different regions – the wildlife, landscapes, and unique adventures only found in Nebraska. Preparing them for future excursions, campers will learn how to put up tents, build campfires, cook outdoors, take photos, explore the wild, and play outdoor games. Practical safe skills with slingshots, bows, atlatl, and rifles are included.

Learn to Hunt Camp

Ages: 11 – 14 | Price: $100 members, $125 non-members

Students will learn the fundamentals of safe and successful hunting, including hunting techniques, firearm handling and marksmanship, species identification, tree stand safety, and conservation principles. Students will gain hands-on experience with modern bowhunting equipment and firearms (.22 caliber provided) in our indoor ranges. Post-camp mentored hunting experiences offered for graduates of this camp.

Wilderness Survival Camp

Ages: 10 – 14 | Price: $100 members, $125 non-members

Learning how to prepare for adventures (expected or unexpected) without modern conveniences is a worthy challenge. This camp will teach participants essential skills that can come in handy when something doesn’t go according to plan, or might be particularly fun to try on a camping trip.
Participants will gain knowledge useful for single day outdoor trips, more extended hiking excursions, and/or travel emergencies.

Archery Academy Camp

Ages: 8 – 13 | Price: $72 members, $90 non-members

This exclusively archery-focused camp will take students’ archery skills to the next level. Youth that are new, intermediate, or advanced will all find a path that adds to their knowledge and ability. Topics covered include range safety, equipment knowledge, scoring, intro to competition, stretching and exercises, and lots of practice time – games included!

Top Shot Academy Camp

Ages: 8 – 13 | Price: $100 members, $125 non-members

Develop an understanding of a variety of rifles and hone marksmanship skills with our Top Shot Firearm Camp. Designed for multiple skill levels, campers will focus on gun safety, gain knowledge about the parts and function of guns and ammunition, and practice their new marksmanship knowledge in a couple of different settings. Perfect for students interested in hunting, recreation, or competition shooting.
