Becoming an Outdoors-Family

Becoming an Outdoors-Family is a series of workshops designed to teach basic outdoor skills to help families enjoy the outdoors together. Experts provide hands-on instruction in skills related to fishing, camping, kayaking, archery, hunting and more.

A goal of Becoming an Outdoors-Family is to give families an opportunity to reconnect with each other and the great outdoors in a comfortable, safe and relaxed setting. Workshops are open to all types of families. Bring your grandchild, niece or nephew or big brother or sister and join us.

Instructors begin each class with the basics, providing hands-on experience and encourage all participants to ask questions and try the skill, focusing on fun. For more information, contact Christy Christiansen.

BOF Dutch Oven Cooking Workshop, June 29, 2017, Louisville State Recreation Area

Learn how to cook using Dutch Ovens. Dutch ovens make it easy to enjoy a tasty outdoor meal, just like in the old days. Instructors will share how to season, maintain temperature, cook with, basic tools, clean and store Dutch Ovens. You will prepare up an amazing meal, sure to be enjoyed by all.

BOF Campout, Aug. 11-13, 2017, Fort Kearny State Recreation Area

This camp provides families an opportunity to reconnect with each other and the outdoors in a comfortable, safe and relaxed setting. We welcome all types of families to participate. Bring your grandchild, niece or nephew, or big brother/sister and join us.

The Becoming an Outdoors Family Campout program is for families who are new to camping and the outdoors. With the expert guidance of our instructors, we will teach you how to fish, camp, kayak, and cook outdoors, in a relaxed and safe environment.
